Is it * 67 or * 69 that blocks your number?
You can prevent your number from appearing on a recipient's phone or caller ID device when you place a call using a smartphone or a traditional landline by pressing *67 followed by the number you want to call.
You have the option to block Caller ID either temporarily or permanently. To block your number from being displayed temporarily for a specific call: Enter *67.
*67 - Caller ID Block: Hides your phone number on Caller ID systems. *69 - Call Return: Redials the last number that called you. *70 - Call Waiting: Places your call on hold so you can answer another. *72 - Call Forwarding: Forward your call to another phone number.

Tried it on my iPhone with Consumer Cellular. No dice. "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." This isn't surprising, considering that caller ID records are standard even on the most primitive phones.
Call return (*69) automatically dials your last incoming call, whether the call was answered, unanswered or busy. Call within 30 minutes, during which you can still make and receive calls. To deactivate while waiting for the party you are trying to reach to become available, dial *89.
*72 – Call Forwarding: Forward your call to another phone number. *77 – Anonymous Call Rejection: Blocks calls from private callers. *80 – Disable Call Block (*60). *82 – Disable Caller ID Block (*67).
Activate Call Trace
Pick up the phone and press *57 (touch tone) or 1157 (rotary). You'll hear a confirmation tone and message will be heard If the trace is successful. You must keep a written log of the date and time of harassing calls to retrieve Call Trace information.
*66: Busy Call Return
The Busy Call Return service allows you to call a busy line over and over automatically for 30 minutes. When the line becomes free, your phone will notify you with a distinctive ring. This service is optional.
Dialing *68 will disable the Caller ID for the next outbound / external call only. Selecting a line and dialing this feature code will result in a prompt on the phone display as well as an audible message: "Caller ID is BLOCKED for the next outbound call only."
This Vertical Service Code, *82, enables calling line identification regardless of subscriber preference, dialed to unblock withheld numbers (private callers) in the U.S. on a per-call basis.

If you need to reveal your information temporarily before a call, you can dial *65 and the phone number to override the caller ID block feature. Here's an example of the setup for 8x8 caller ID blocking option.
Star 69 refers to "last-call return," the Calling Feature Vertical service code *69 keyed on a landline telephone set in order to return the call of the last one to ring (in Canada and the United States).
Call forwarding is disabled by dialing *73. This feature requires a subscription from the telephone company. Also available in some areas is Remote Access to call forwarding, which permit the control over call forwarding from telephones other than the subscriber's telephone.
*73. Deactivates Call Forwarding Always. Lift the telephone handset, press the speaker button, or the headset button. Dial the code *73, then #. You will hear a confirmation message.
The basics of Verizon's Call Forwarding service (also known as Immediate Call Forwarding) are straightforward: From your mobile phone, dial *72 plus the phone number you want to forward calls to. You can also activate Call Forwarding through My Verizon.
The next time you receive a call from a number you wish to block, end the call and dial *97. The number will automatically be added to your Selective Call Rejection list. You can block up to 30 numbers.

To temporarily unblock your line so your call will be accepted: • Press *82, then dial the telephone number you're calling. Your identity will be shown on the recipient's Caller ID display. Line Blocking will be reactivated when you hang up from this call.
Reject anonymous calls
Anonymous Call Rejection (*77) stops calls from people that use a blocking feature to keep their name or number from being displayed. When Anonymous Call Rejection is turned on, callers will hear a message telling them to hang up, turn off the blocking feature, and call again.
Can you use * 77 on cell phones?
Police: Don't use *77 to block robocalls on cellphone — you may reach 911. Do not call *77.
*78 Activation, *79 Deactivation - Do Not Disturb - Provides the subscriber the opportunity of having all calls intercepted by the CO switch whenever the line is programmed for Do Not Disturb. The calling party will receive a message indicating the station is in Do Not Disturb condition.
Hide Caller ID: *31#
If you want to hide the caller ID dial *31# and press call button.
##002# - If your voice call or data call, or SMS call has been forwarded, dialling this USSD code will erase them. *#21# - By dialling this USSD code, you would get to know if your calls have been diverted somewhere else or not.
*70 - Places your call on hold so you can answer another. *72 - Forward your call to another phone number. *77 - Blocks calls from anonymous/private callers.
Call Block, otherwise known as Call Screening, is a feature that allows you to block calls from up to 10 phone numbers within your local calling area for a low monthly rate. Turn on: Press *60. If prompted, press 3 to turn the feature on.
About Selective Call Forwarding (*63)
Selective Call Forwarding lets you program your office phone to direct incoming calls from specific phone numbers you have pre-selected to a different number - such as your cellular phone - when you're away from your office.
Block calls from your phone
Receive an unwanted call? Press *61 to add the last call received to your call block list. Press *80 to turn call blocking off. Press *60 to turn call blocking back on.
With the *#62# settings interrogation code, you can see if calls or texts are being forwarded to another number whenever you're unreachable. If the "Voice Call Forwarding," "Data Call Forwarding," and "SMS Call Forwarding" all say they're disabled, good. If numbers are listed, they could be put there by someone else.

How do I turn off * 77?
Dial *77. You should hear three beeps, which means that calls that come through as Private, Blocked or Anonymous will not come through. Suddenly, you'll be receiving far fewer unwanted phone calls than you are now. You can turn off this feature by dialing *87.

Access voicemail from your phone's dial pad
There are three ways to access your voicemail using your phone's dial pad. You can: Press and hold 1. Dial *86.
Hang up the phone after calling and getting a busy signal. Pick the phone up and at the dial tone, press *66. If the line is free, the call will go through. If the line is busy, you may hear a message.
Dial *#61# and tap Call to show the number for voice call forwarding when a call is unanswered. Also show the options for data, fax, sms, sync, async, packet access and pad access. Dial *#62# and tap Call is the same as above except for no-service rather than no-answer scenario.
For that, open your phone app and tap on the 'menu overflow button' (three dots) in the top right corner of the screen (generally for Android devices, for other devices, it is different). Then tap on the Settings and click on Calls. Within the calls menu, click on the 'call barring' option.
Dial *67. This code will block your number so that your call shows up as an "Unknown" or "Private" number. Enter the code before the number that you're dialing, like so: *67-408-221-XXXX. This may work on cell phones and home phones, but it won't necessarily work on businesses.
Once upon a time, here in the USA, dialing *69 on a regular landline would give you the last number that called you, and offer to call the number back for you. Assuming, of course that the caller didn't dial *67 before calling you... which would block the calling number from being retrieved.

What does calling * 228 do?
The 228 code is a legacy method to activate 3G phones or update your Preferred Roaming Lists on them. Do not try to dial this number on a 4G or 5G Verizon phone, as it can take you off the 4G or 5G network you are currently on.
*67 has nothing to do with whether you've blocked the number or not, it just tells your carrier to not send your caller. It works with any number. Does * 69 still work? However, if the caller dialed *67 before making that call, it blocks caller ID, so *69 won't work.
